THE "WESTHILLS' COMMUNITIES:

“THE WESTHILLS” communities are situated in the WESTERN hills of Calgary. This particular westerly portion of Calgary was annexed to the City of Calgary in 1956, but did not start to develop until 1970. “The Westhills” consists of mixed residential developments including single family dwellings, townhouses and condominium apartments. “THE WESTHILLS” is located NORTH and SOUTH of Bow Trail, and WEST of Sarcee Trail. Excellent access to the downtown business community!

The “maturely treed” communities in “The Westhills” are COACH HILL/COACH MANOR ESTATES, PATTERSON/PROMINENCE POINT, STRATHCONA PARK, SPRINGHAVEN IN STRATHCONA, CHRISTIE PARK/CHRISTIE ESTATES, SIGNATURE PARK, SIGNAL HILL, SIMCOE HEIGHTS. These particular communities were constructed from the late 1970’s to 2001. These communities are of newer construction, but are still relatively close to the downtown business community, The “Westhills Sports Centre”, the “Westhills Shopping Centre” and a number of very fine kindergarten, elementary, junior and senior high schools, French and private schools, colleges and university. – All the ‘services and amenities’ that families are seeking! Athletic Parks and Leisure Centres, Arenas, Community Associations, Curling Clubs, Golf Courses, Swimming, Skating Areas, Hockey and Tennis are all within a short distance for your enjoyment.

Elevations from these communities provide excellent VIEWS of the City of Calgary, THE ROCKY MOUNTAINS and the ELBOW and BOW RIVER valleys. Communities, such as MOUNT ROYAL, LOWER MOUNT ROYAL, SCARBORO and UPPER SCARBORO, were originally promoted by the Canadian Pacific Railway as exclusive “inner-city” neighbourhoods for Calgary’s citizens, who wished to live in the downtown core. Development of these communities commenced in 1904 through to 1914. Since then, many of the original homes have either been totally removed and rebuilt on their originally designed ‘restricted residential’ lots, or renovated to the satisfaction of today’s home owner.
